Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)

Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) provides cash to certain aged, blind and disabled legal non-citizens ineligible for Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment (SSI/SSP) due to their immigration status. CAPI participants may also be eligible for Medi-Cal, In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and/or CalFresh. If you are interested in receiving these benefits, a separate application must be made for each program.

Benefits

CAPI payment amounts vary depending on a person's marital status, living arrangements and other income. CAPI payment standards are equivalent to the amount of SSI/SSSP payment standards. Information about California SSI/SSP eligibility can be obtained by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or by contacting your local Social Security Administration office.

Filing An Application

Orange County accepts and forwards CAPI applications to Sacramento County for processing. Orange County residents may file an application for CAPI benefits at any of SSA's office locations or by applying during business hours at 800-281-9799. To obtain a copy of a CAPI Application Packet click here, once completed you can fax to County of Orange Social Services Agency, CAPI at (714) 645-3489.
