The Family Urgent Response System (FURS) is a collaboration of the County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA), Health Care Agency (HCA) and Probation Department. Through FURS, a statewide toll-free hotline is available for current and former foster youth (up to age 21) and their caregivers, where they can call and receive immediate trauma-informed support from caring and trained professionals during situations of instability, to preserve the relationship of the caregiver and the youth.
Locally, Orangewood Children and Family Center coordinates the deployment of Orange County’s FURS response team.
How It Works:
Call or text the statewide FURS hotline at (833) 939-3877 — available 24/7
A trained professional will assess the situation and determine the appropriate response.
When needed, an in-person response is provided:
Within 1-3 hours for urgent needs
Within 24 hours for non-urgent situations
Who Can Use FURS?
- Current or former foster youth (up to age 21)
- Caregivers of foster youth
